A Photographer-Owned Studio in Sausalito
Hi, I’m Sarah Deragon, a portrait photographer and the person behind In Community Studio in Sausalito, California.
I created this studio because I wanted a space that felt different: professional without feeling corporate, beautiful without being precious, and flexible enough for all the different ways photographers actually work.
In Community Studio is my home base for portrait sessions, headshots, creative shoots, workshops, classes, pop-ups, collaborations, and all kinds of photographic experiments.
And when I’m not using it, I love seeing what other photographers and creatives make here.
I’ve spent years photographing people through my business, Portraits To The People, where I specialize in not so corporate headshots and portraits for people who hate having their picture taken.
The studio offers a combination of natural light and controlled studio lighting, multiple shooting areas and backgrounds, and enough flexibility to create everything from polished professional portraits to something much more experimental.

I’m proud to be a member of the Marin Photographers Collective.
Being part of the collective reflects something that matters deeply to me: photography is better when photographers are connected to one another. I believe in sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas, supporting other working photographers, and continuing to push ourselves creatively. Having my studio here in Sausalito gives me the chance not only to photograph my own clients, but to contribute to a larger creative photography community right here in Marin.
More Than a Rental Studio
Yes, you can rent the studio.
But my hope is that In Community Studio becomes much more than four walls and some photo equipment.
I want it to be a place where photographers meet one another. Where someone learns how to use their camera. Where a new idea gets tested. Where we host a workshop, build a weird set, make a portrait we're excited about, or gather simply because it's nice to be around other creative people.
That’s the Community part of In Community Studio.
